Final Post

by wright3d

For my final post I will reflect on Capstone Night here at the school of Informatics. On that friday there were many wonderful projects and I got the opportunity to interview 3 of the presenters.

I asked them all 5 questions:

1. Why did you choose this for your capstone project?

Kenny: I got to connect 3 things I like; design, 3d, and entrepreneurship.

Xian: I always wanted to be a 3D artist in this industry.

Nate: I wanted to advance my skills in storytelling.

2. What are some of the changes that you had to make between your original idea and what you are presenting today?

Kenny: I focused on the context not the design.

Xian: I was going to do 3 characters but I ran out of time.

Moody: I didn’t have any changes.

3. What is your opinion of the timeline for your capstone? Was it helpful or a waste of time? Why?

Kenny: Doing the capstone in 1 semester was tough but doable.

Xian: I planned for doing 120% so that at the end I would be at 100% instead of 80%.

Nate: It was something I had to do to figure out if I was at the right place at the right time.

4. If you could change anything about your capstone, what would that be?

Kenny: I would go further with it. When do you stop with design?

Xian: Some technical details like the hair. I would have also blocked out my scene with simple shapes.

Nate: I would like to have had more physical materials but it was out of my means.

5. What advice would you give me in planning for my capstone?

Kenny: Keep on your timeline. Meet with your mentor.

Xian: Watch out. Get started now!

Nate: Make sure you do something you are familiar with but at the same time do some new things.

This concludes the interviews.

After going to capstone night and interviewing the presenters, I have received a double boost of determination and energy to make mine the best it can be. While some projects were better than others it can really put things into perspective knowing I will be in their shoes come spring time. The capstone is what you make it and if it sucks it’s your own fault! I will definitely be pumping out some new material this Christmas break but it’s obvious I still have a lot of work ahead of me.
